Castle Gallery
The building of the Castle Gallery, which once served as the village schoolhouse, now hosts a historical exhibition about the fortress. Its renovation, expansion, and full accessibility were made possible through a major development project. The exhibition spans two levels: the ground floor presents the history of the castle, while the upper floor houses a weapons display. In the courtyard of the former schoolhouse — today known as the Craft Courtyard — children and adults alike can explore scale models of the surrounding castles (Szigliget, Csobánc, Rezi, Tátika, Hegyesd). As part of the exhibition’s interior design, a functioning reconstruction of a medieval stove was created using archaeological finds from the castle. The room is furnished with period‑style furniture, wall hangings, a chandelier, and a Renaissance‑era scene reproduced from a gunpowder flask discovered during excavations. A 1:200 scale tactile model of the castle is also available for visitors with visual impairments. In the other exhibition room, visitors can view everyday tools and weapons, as well as a large monitor displaying live footage from the four webcams installed around the castle — a feature especially useful for those who are unable to climb up to the fortress.
