| The financial resources for the development are provided within the framework of the project numbered GINOP-7.1.6-16-2017-00004, entitled “Tourism development of the Balaton Uplands cultural landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage tentative site”. For the implementation of the project component titled “Partial reconstruction of Szigliget Castle and the creation of new covered spaces”, HUF 470 million in funding is available, while the municipality provides HUF 60 million as own contribution. Within the framework of the project, Szigliget Castle will be expanded with new, unique, experience-based tourism elements by exploring previously unused opportunities. A modern, 21st-century, interactive exhibition enriched with experience-based visual elements will be created, providing a complex visitor experience for children and families as well. Construction works are currently still ongoing in the castle, but alongside the works we are already able to ensure the conditions for safe visitor reception. Unfortunately, the effects of the coronavirus have also significantly affected the investment, therefore the contractor was not able to complete the works by the planned deadline, but it was jointly decided that the castle would be opened to visitors from June 20. |
